Little Woodrow’s opens new location at Tech Ridge

Little Woodrow’s — the sports bar owned by local restaurateur Rick Engel — has added a new location to an area of town that could use a neighborhood nightlife spot.

The pub is now opened at 12601 Tech Ridge Blvd., just off East Parmer Lane. It’s the fifth Austin location for Little Woodrow’s, which also has locations in Houston and San Antonio. For Engel, bringing his bar to the northern part of the city at Tech Ridge was important: “This area has been underserved for many years but has been developing fairly quickly,” he said in an email.

And, he noted, there are lots of things to be enthused about with this new Little Woodrow’s. “We are very excited to offer a ‘year round’ patio option at this location,” he said. “We have gas heat for the winter and will have a misting system for the summer. We have plenty of indoor and outdoor community seating to accommodate large groups.  Lots of large TVs both inside and out. And an indoor and outdoor bar with lots of bar seating.”

Plus, Little Woodrow’s will continue its tradition of offering plenty of beer — more than 100, to be exact, with 44 of those on draft and at least 15 of those local. The bar will also have three cocktails on tap: the New Old Fashioned,  the Wallflower and Tiki on Fire.

“We have always been known for our great draft selection, so we are taking it to the next level and adding cocktails and wine to go along with all of our great beers on tap,” Little Woodrow’s general manager Keith Daly said in an email.

The New Old Fashioned, in particular, sounds like a whiskey-filled treat, with Knob Creek bourbon, Cointreau, cherry liqueur and black walnut bitters. But one of Daly’s favorite cocktails he’s made is the Wallflower, with New Amsterdam Gin, ginger ale, raspberry liqueur, orange bitters and soda.

If you’re needing food to pair with those drinks, you don’t have to worry about finding a dining spot nearby. Brooklyn Pie Co., located two doors down, will deliver food directly to your table or your bar stool, according to a press release.

Visit Little Woodrow’s at Tech Ridge from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Mondays through Fridays and noon to 2 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, visit littlewoodrows.com.
