Not long after Austin was rated a great American beer city by Wine Enthusiast magazine, another publication has recognized one local bar’s major love of beer.
Easy Tiger, a bakery and beer garden on East Sixth Street, is one of the bars included on USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Top 20 Beer Bars in America — but is it beloved enough to make it to the top 10 on this list? USA Today has turned the roundup into an online competition that will determine the best of these places, narrowing them down to the top 10 beer bars in the U.S. You can read a description of each bar and then vote on your favorite. Readers can register their votes once per day through Feb. 29, when the voting ends.
Here’s what USA Today said about Easy Tiger:
“With more than 30 local and boutique draft beers plus an in-house bakery producing artisan breads and pretzels, house-made sausages and a gorgeous creek-side beer garden, Easy Tiger makes it easy for Austin beer lovers to settle in for a lengthy visit. Picnic tables and large fans in the shady garden contribute to the easy-going atmosphere, making it a great place for fine beer and conversation. The youthful crowd runs the gamut from area professionals to curious students looking to broaden their beer horizons.”
Agree with that statement? Vote for the bar here. It’s certainly got stiff competition: Others on the list include Denver’s Falling Rock Tap House, which has more than 75 beers on draft and more than 130 in bottles, and Caldwell, New Jersey’s Cloverleaf Tavern, which has been serving up beers in a laid-back atmosphere since 1933 (the year, maybe not coincidentally, that Prohibition ended).
Right now, readers have ranked Easy Tiger ninth on the list. Let’s get it higher.
